The mission of the Vertigo Charitable Foundation, LLC is to help make justice a reality for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse who seek to hold accountable the individuals who abused them and, where applicable, the institutions that tolerated such abuse. Our overarching goal is to eliminate the numerous ways in which the legal system discriminates against survivors at every stage – from initial reporting to law enforcement, through case-filing decisions by prosecutors and private attorneys, to the litigation of civil and criminal cases in our courts. Only by abolishing such inherently unfair practices will the legal playing field be leveled to provide survivors the fair path to justice they deserve.

In pursuit of that goal, our immediate focus is to provide through both film and written materials essential education and training to police, prosecutors, judges, private attorneys, victim advocates, psychologists, and social workers. This effort will enable them to recognize the unique aspects of survivor cases and therefore dispense justice more evenhandedly. Our intent and our pledge to survivors is to turn upside down a legal system that perversely protects perpetrators and re-victimizes survivors. Such an unworkable and unjust system cannot – and will not – stand.
